Alder and Finch was started during the pandemic at the same time my first son was born. During an isolating time and struggling with postpartum depression, I started painting again. I created the Etsy shop to give me a purpose outside of being a healing mother. While laying on the floor with my son during tummy time, I watched a small yellow and black finch among the alder branches through the living room windows and that’s how the business was named.
I started with digital downloads and have expanded into art prints and making my original watercolors available. I love the fluidity of watercolor and how it can be mixed with other mediums. I’m inspired by my beautiful surroundings of the Pacific Northwest West in the US and we’re based in a cozy town by the water just outside of Seattle, WA.
